Abstract
Inferno (2016), directed by Ron Howard and based on Dan Brown’s novel, presents a philosophical exploration of morality amidst a global crisis. Set in Florence, Italy, the film follows Robert Langdon as he confronts the ethical quandaries posed by scientist Bertrand Zobrist’s plan to combat the problem of overpopulation through a deadly virus named Inferno. The narrative confronts audiences with questions of whether the ends justify the means, delving into moral relativism, absolutism, and deontological ethics. Through compelling character interactions, the film challenges viewers to reassess their ethical frameworks and contemplate the value of human life. Ultimately, Inferno serves as a thought-provoking exploration of morality, prompting viewers to ponder their own responses to moral dilemmas and emphasizing the complexity of ethical truth. In this respect, this study, examining moral dilemma, aims to discuss the importance of taking action in challenging times through various moral stances.
