Abstract
In this paper, we consider exact inference on the mean value of a two-parameter exponential distribution. At first, a pivotal quantity is given for the mean parameter based on complete data and present the exact quantiles of this pivotal quantity for some sample sizes. An exact test and confidence interval is proposed using this pivotal quantity. Then, similar pivotal quantities are derived for this parameter based on double Type II censoring, progressive Type-II censoring and record values. At the end, two real life examples are presented to illustrate the proposed method.
