Abstract

AbstractThe Raman spectra of the “self‐trapped hole” or VK center are measured in LiF, KCl, and RbCl. The localized vibrational modes induced by these centers are situated at 437, 241, and 244 cm−1, respectively. The vibrational modes of the VK center in the alkali halides and fluorides are calculated, making use of a semi‐empirical energy function. These calculations are discussed and compared with the experimental data.
