Abstract

Palestine is diverse from a cultural point of view, a multi-religious country with important remains from different historical periods. The cultural diversity is the wealth of the countries, a principle stressed by the Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions (2005); this is particularly true for Palestine. Any attempt to considerer it within a single, narrow, framework is doomed. However, this diversity is ignored by many people, if not most, in Western countries; the image of Palestine abroad is habitually tarnished by turmoil and unrest.Beyond the protracted conflict in the Middle East and the notoriety of its religious heritage sites, Palestine is also the world of labour; of those men and women that struggle on a daily basis to earn their lives and keep their families – in the face of one of the longest and hardest military occupation in recent history.
