The level of good housekeeping and the standards of thermal insulation have increased, and many heat-recovery schemes using heat exchangers have been installed. For further improvements to be made more sophisticated techniques are required and the efficient use of industrial heat pumps, when correctly applied, is for many industries the most cost-effective remaining option.
