Banana (Musa spp.) is a plant that has a good adaptability to the conditions of water shortages, so many bananas grown by farmers in the upland location. In East Kalimantan, banana has been cultivated by farmers. Banana kepok is cultivated dominantly. The aim of this study was to provide information about the development prospects of banana kepok in East Kutai. The research was conducted in the village of Golo, Kaliorang Sub-District, East Kutai District, East Kalimantan Province in 2012. The type of data consists of primary data obtained from banana farmers and secondary data obtained from the local Department of Agriculture or related agencies as well as the publication of scientific papers; the collection techniques data through observation, interview, and record notes. The results showed that the development prospect of banana in East Kalimantan is very open and profitable because it can penetrate the export market, as well as providing a high economic benefit to farmers as indicated by the value of R/C ratio analysis banana farming by 2.82, which means suitable to be developed.
