Abstract

This research identified the political disagreements in Indonesian muslims’ social media society. Indonesia known as a democracy state, incorporating open society and religious and ethnic pluralism. But nowadays, It has been a tense atmosphere occurs in Indonesian-Muslims’ social media society, which is polarized into two groups: those who agree with incumbent government and those who disagree with. We quantitatively identified the political disagreements in social media. Participants are among Indonesian muslims who use social media users (n=390). This research gives some information: (1) Most people experience political disagreements in social media interaction, (2) All of the respondents like to share political information, and like to get an update information about politics from their social media, (3) From the frequency, we can see that people more often prefer to get an update information about politics than to share it (4) The activity of updating and sharing political information did not contribute to the experience of political disagreements in social media.
