Abstract
Systematic attempts of chlorine incorporation were implemented in fluorogallate and fluoroindate glasses. High chloride content was achieved in the InF 3BaF 2PbCl 2NaCl system. Up to 15 mol% NaCl or 7.5 mol% PbCl 2 could be incorporated in glasses based on GaF 3 or GaF 3InF 3. The effect of chlorine content on glass formation and properties has been investigated. IR cut-off is shifted toward longer wavelength and 1G 4 fluorescence lifetime of Pr 3+ doping ions is increased. Such compositions have been used for the core of experimental optical fibers.
