Abstract
The study of stress in indigenous societies has illuminated the processes by which stresses are produced in systems of social relationships and the diverse effects of stresses across neuroendocrine, metabolic, physiological, psychological, and cultural systems. Research on the processes of acculturation, modernization, and migration has helped to elucidate the stress process.
