Abstract
Since its early development, the indications and utilization of the halo cast have increased to the point where it has become a versatile adjunct in the armamentarium for treatment of spinal injuries, diseases and deformities. Its prime indication continues to be that of traction in the cervical spine and in spinal deformities. The ease of application and low morbidity in its use for traction or immobilization render the halo splint an incomparable aid in the treatment of spinal deformities and injuries.
