Abstract
The objective of this study is to determine the extent of universities in India, uploading research synopsis to the ShodhGangotri repository. It aims to analyze, region-wise, discipline wise, category wise, university wise, state-wise contributions, to identify the universities uploading and to investigate those universities which are not uploading. Data was collected directly from the ShodhGangotri website. A total of 6923 synopses were identified up to 31stDecember 2019. It is surprising to note that only 7.28% of the Indian universities are uploading synopsis, 35.54% are from the north zone, almost 3/5th are in humanities and social science discipline. Shri Jagdishprasad Jhabarmal Tibrewala University is the one private university regularly uploading the maximum number, more than half from Rajasthan state, more universities uploading from Himachal Pradesh, the lion’s share of private universities not contributing and is from north India.
