Indian Medicinal Plant Research during the Last Decade (2012-2021): A Scientometric Analysis

Abstract

Many published materials demonstrate the growing interest in medicinal plant research within the research community. This scientometric analysis examined Indian scientists’ medicinal plant research output from 2012 to 2021. To analyse and provide findings based on scientometric indicators, such as annual research trends, relevant sources, most productive authors and affiliations, nation’s collaboration, and funding bodies. 12,281 Scopus publications were assessed with Excel, Bibliometrix, and VOSviewer. International Journal of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences is the primary contributing source, while 2012 was the most productive year. Among Indian authors, Bhatt I. D. was found the most prolific. The majority of the scientists published their documents as articles, the Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants was the most active contributor, and the University Grants Commission was the major funding organisation for medicinal plant research. This kind of scientometric analysis provides insight to academicians to understand the knowledge structures in a domain.
