In 2016, ITCEES created the Social Management Forum, which seeks to solve the problem of urban solid waste (USW) through the collective discussion among several social actors in order to solve a problem that plagues the municipality of Cerro Largo (RS). The research adopted a qualitative approach. The outcomes that can be highlighted are the implementation of an environmental education project in municipal schools, the elaboration of a flyer about selective waste collection, the resumption of the saturated fat recycling project, the establishment of a waste collectors cooperative, and the acquisition of individual protection equipment in addition to courses to waste collectors.
