Abstract

1. Diffusion chromium-titanium coating is an effective method of increasing the wear and corrosion resistance of nitrided parts. 2. The increase in the wear and corrosion resistance as the result of chromium-titanium coating may be explained by the formation on the working surfaces of a complex diffusion coating, the outer zone of which consists primarily of Cr2N chromium nitride with a hardness of 1650 H. 3. The diffusion chromium-titanium coating process may be used successfully not only for hardening but also for repairing a number of machine parts. 4. Plunger pairs repaired by diffusion chromium-titanium coating have a longer life and higher reliability than standard ones.
