Abstract

The permeability of the endothelium in abdominal aorta of rats reared on an atherogenic diet for 9 weeks was studied with a colloidal iron tracer method. From 3 weeks on the experimental diet a parallel accumulation of colloidal iron particles and lipid droplets occurred in the endothelium. Similar changes were not observed in rats maintained on a normal diet.
