Abstract

ADVANCES in cross-sectional imaging with use of computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance (MR) imaging have provided exquisite three-dimensional anatomic detail. Likewise, advances in metabolic imaging, such as with positron emission tomography (PET) and MR spectroscopy, have provided important physiologic information. However, in most interventional radiology suites and surgical operating rooms, these amazing images are examined closely before the procedure, but then they are relegated to the picture archiving and communication systems screen or view box in the back of the room.
