Abstract

The emissions of polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxin (PCDD) and polychlorinated dibenzofuran (PCDF) from a number of clinical and municipal refuse incinerators of varying sizes have been investigated within the United Kingdom. The methodology employed will be described and the range of PCDD and PCDF emissions observed will be contrasted with those from a large chemical incineration plant. The results from the analysis of flyashes for PCDDs and PCDFs from various plants are also shown.
