Abstract

The objective of this research was to determine the incidence of malnutrition in older adults who attend the Chuani Ambulatory Health Center (CSA) in Bolivia. It is a descriptive research, with a cross-sectional field design. An intentional sample of 60 adults over 60 years of age was used and data was collected through observation, surveys and anthropometric measurements. The results showed that most older adults consume three meals a day, but these are insufficient in terms of the amount of protein, which affects their nutritional status. It was found that 15% of the population had malnutrition or risk of malnutrition according to the MNA Test. It is concluded that there are differences between the results of the MNA Test and the Body Mass Index (BMI), since the BMI showed a greater prevalence of malnutrition.
