Abstract
Purpose: Children with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) types I and II develop hip subluxation and dislocation. Benign neglect has been the longstanding approach as they were thought to be largely asymptomatic. Through a comprehensive multidisciplinary approach, life expectancy for these children has increased. Spinal stabilization via spinal fusion or growing rods has been part of our multidisciplinary approach.
