Abstract

Abstract We propose an implantable dosimetric system for real-time measurements of dose and dose rate. It consists of a fiber probe and a spectrophotometric module with signal processing implementation. The probe incorporates a small GaN crystal bulk ( 3 ) used as radioluminescence (RL) transducer. The spectrophotometric module has been designed using a concave spherical grating and a multi-anode photomultiplier tube (PMT). The system has been tested in clinical conditions, using photon beams delivered by clinical linear accelerators (Clinac). Testing results show an excellent linear response and no significant angular dependence, and are in good agreement with those from a standard ionization chamber (IC).
