Abstract

Indigenous medicine comprises of knowledge systems that developed over subsequent years within different societies before the period of modern medicine. This work investigated on the in-vivo antimicrobial activities of the extracts (solvent used in this study are acetone, ethanol, aqueous and methanol) of stem and leaf of Calotropis procera using experimental animal (albino rats), whereby haematological and biochemical analyses were determined using standard methods. Based on the result in this study, there was no death recorded but there was a mild toxicity effects on the liver, kidney, stomach and heart of the animals at 1000-3000 mg/kg of the rats in this research.
