Abstract
The experiment was carried out to access the nutritive values of vetiver grass at different stages of re- growths using the in-vitro gas production technique (IVGP).Proximate compositions of the grass samples were analysed and the grass samples were also incubated in rumen liquor for 24 hours to estimate Metabolisable energy (ME), Organic Matter Digestibility (OMD), Short chain fatty acids (SCFA) and methane. The crude protein ranged from 8.38 5.38% among the treatments while crude fiber ranged between 23.59-28.67% among the treatments IVGP,OMD, ME,SCFA were significantly (p < 0.05) different across the dietary treatments. It was concluded that nutritive values of vetiver grass decreased with age.
