Abstract

The article focuses on philologist Isaac Casaubon and professor of civil law Thomas Smith, who were readers of works of Jewish historian Flavius Josephus. Topics discussed include Casaubon questioning Josephus not using details of passages in Scripture in his book "Jewish Antiquities," Smith leaving signatures on title page of the book "Jewish Antiquities" and Casaubon's readings of Josephus for specific work.
