Abstract

Composite powders consisted of tubular MSH and LaF3 NPs were incorporated to improve the tribological performance of phosphate/MoS2 composite coatings. It suggested that tribological performance of composite coatings can be greatly promoted by MSH@LaF3, and at the same time, the enhancement effect can be further facilitated by high-temperature treatment on MSH@LaF3. The concrete reason was attributed to that LaF3 stimulated dehydration of structural water and stripping of silicon-oxygen tetrahedra sheet from MSH matrix, through which MSH@LaF3 can easily undergo tribo-chemical reactions with the worn surface and initiated in-situ formation of cermet tribo-film. What’s more, MSH@LaF3 that transferred into the tribo-film also induced the formation of MoS2 lubrication film on the top worn surface.
