Abstract
AbstractThe nanocomposites of polyamide 6 (PA6) and polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (POSS) containing primary and secondary amino groups were synthesized through in‐situ polymerization. The chemical structure of the PA6/POSS nanocomposites was characterized with FT‐IR and 1H‐NMR spectroscopies. The solution viscosity results showed the increase in intrinsic viscosity with increasing POSS loadings. The random positioning of the POSS molecules in PA6 chain was confirmed by x‐ray diffraction studies. The gradual decrease in the melting point and crystallization temperature with increasing POSS content was observed by the differential scanning calorimetry. The thermogravimetric analysis results showed that the POSS incorporation does not enhance the thermal resistance of PA6/POSS nanocomposites.
