Abstract

In-situ proton irradiation/lead-bismuth eutectic corrosion synergistic effect on corrosion behaviour of 11Cr1W1Si ferritic/martensitic steel was investigated. The result indicated that irradiation did not change the duplex structure of oxide layer composed of an outer Fe3O4 layer and an inner Fe-Cr spinel layer. However, irradiation-induced damage can accelerate the lead-bismuth eutectic corrosion rate of this steel, and the underlying role of irradiation damage on the corrosion process was considered.
