Journal of Art & Design EducationVolume 4, Issue 1 p. 35-52 In Search of a Curriculum Model for the Primary Schools GILLIAN FIGG, GILLIAN FIGG GILLIAN FIGG is a primary school teacher on secondment for two years to West Glamorgan Institute of Higher Education where she lectures to students taking BEd degrees. She is registered with the CNAA as a candidate for MPhil and her present research centres on the design and evaluation of a painting programme for the primary school. She is involved with the NS EAD/Berol Primary Education Art, Craft, and Design Research Project, and the commencement of a project, initiated by the West Glamorgan Education Authority, which investigates ways to encourage children in aesthetic appraisal of the natural environment, following on from strategies developed by the School Council's ABE working parties.
