Abstract
The results of the questionnaire referred to in Dr Johnson's letter point out several interesting aspects of residency training in child abuse. First, when a program offers an effective educational experience in an area, the residents will be interested and will participate in an active way. Second, program directors should ask for input from the residents about the quality and extent of their training program so that departments can make thoughtful decisions about rotations in their individual programs. Whether the director can respond to residents' wishes depends to a great extent on how much flexibility there is in a program as determined by elective or selective time.
