Abstract

Composition dependence of the antiferro-distortive phase transition temperature in SrTiO3 was measured by observing the step-wise elastic anomaly for solid solution systems where Sr or Ti were partially substituted with various other ions. The transition temperature Ta was found to increase or decrease almost linearly with the substitution rate. The amount of shift ΔTa was understood as due to the combined effect of both the lattice-cell-volume effect and the `chemical' effect. The latter effect seems to show the different tendency with regards to the location of the substituting ions either at the Si-site or at the Ti-site.
