Abstract

The development of thin-film phosphors with good color and brightness characteristics is one of the most important aspects in improving the technology of field emission displays. This paper discusses how doping with zinc and laser annealing affects the properties of thin films of europium-doped yttrium oxide. It is shown that doping makes it possible to improve the purity of the luminescence color, while laser annealing substantially increases the cathodoluminescence intensity. © 2005 Optical Society of America
