Abstract

Language accommodations are crucial in countries based on immigration for survival. After my involvement in Ministry of Education sponsored research to update programs and implement change, I was interested in finding out what follow-up steps were taken by the Ministry. In this article I report the results of document analysis to identify, in subsequent documents, the impact of changes recommended in my Ministry sponsored study for their possible effectiveness on the integration of newcomers. The most significant contributions are a more holistic approach to language development, modified teaching outcomes and a pedagogical orientation around cultural insertion.
