Abstract
Use of Sr2Ga2o5 as a sintering aid in the synthesis of polycrystalline yttria‐stabilized zirconia yields well‐sintered samples at 1350°C; it also essentially eliminates the grainboundary resistance. The overall oxide‐ion conductivity is improved by about 10% at 800°C at a lower manufacturing cost. However, aging of the bulk electrolyte remains a problem.
