Abstract
ABSTRACT The Seattle Police Department’s (SPD) Micro-Community Policing Plans (MCPP) is a collaborative police-community engagement initiative between Seattle University and the SPD. The MCPP consists of annual administration of the Seattle Public Safety Survey, Seattle University student Research Analysts (RA) a public-facing website, and virtual community-police dialogues. The MCPP community-police dialogues use a restorative framework to engage the community and police in conversation about the annual Seattle Public Safety Survey results, real-time crime and public safety concerns, and how community and police personnel can work together to improve public safety and neighborhood quality of life. Post dialogue surveys and participant observation meeting notes from 30 dialogues held May–August in 2021 and 2022 were analyzed using qualitative data software, ATLAS.ti. Key themes discussed in the dialogues are presented and the value of the MCPP dialogues are discussed.
