Abstract

This study presents a novel and cost-effective approach to incorporating Kaolinite into poly (3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) thin films, marking the first-ever utilization of Kaolinite as a light scatter in organic photodetector. Kaolinite, is abundant in the earth's reserves and characterized by its low cost, demonstrates excellent adsorption and dispersion properties. Compared with P3HT devices, the introduction of Kaolinite resulted in a threefold increase in average haze values. The addition of Kaolinite improves film quality, resulting in a more compact and uniform surface morphology. Enhanced light absorption in the Kaolinite photodetector facilitates improved carrier transport, leading to heightened light responsiveness. Experimental results demonstrate a significant average increase of 176% in responsivity (R) and an average sevenfold increase in detectivity (D*).
