The SBML intervention consisted of a 3-hour faculty- supervised education session that included an interactive LP demonstration, an instructional video, and practice with a LP simulator that represented a patient’s lower torso, resembled normal spinal anatomy, and approximated actual skin and tissue resistance to a spinal needle. Postgraduate year 1 (PGY1) internal medicine residents comprised the intervention group, while PGY2-4 neurology residents who received traditional LP training comprised the comparison group. Using the simulator, both groups completed a baseline LP skill assessment and the intervention group completed a postintervention skill assessment....
