Abstract

The paper presents results from experimental research related to the improvement of the electrical properties of grounding loops using bentonite (suspension or powder) and waste drilling mud as backfill materials. It is shown that the use of these materials results in a significant reduction in the grounding resistance and the maximum touch voltage, especially during drought periods. The results also show that the corrosive activities of bentonite suspension and waste drilling mud can be considered as quite acceptable.
