Abstract

In order to solve the problems of active intervention arc suppression device, such as PT inrush current, overvoltage after arc extinction and low start-up sensitivity for high impedance grounding faults, an improved method which is the active intervention arc suppression device parallels with arc suppression coil is proposed in this paper. Its role for suppressing PT inrush current, post-overvoltage and significantly improving the start-up sensitivity is demonstrated. Effectiveness of the method is verified by experimental tests. The method combines the advantages of active intervention type arc suppression device and arc suppression coil, and it is ideal operation mode which is easy to implement.
