Abstract

To address the arc suppression problems of single-phase ground fault in distribution network, this paper expounds the active arc suppression mechanism based on the compensation current injection of three-phase active arc suppression device and proposes a new active arc suppression method with the co-operation of the arc suppression coil and the three-phase active arc suppression device. When the single-phase ground fault occurs in the system, the new arc suppression method can realize the cooperative compensation of passive and active devices, and improve the arc suppression effect of the faulty system. The feasibility and validity of the proposed method are verified in MATLAB/Simulink. The comparison of the arc suppression effect between the proposed method and the traditional method with only three-phase active arc suppression device shows that the proposed method can better realize a fast and high-precision suppression of the ground fault current, increase the arc suppression rate of ground fault of distribution network, and reduce the installed capacity and cost of active arc suppression device.
