Abstract

In order to improve the stability of moisture content in output cut tobacco from a cylinder drier with cylinder wall temperature control mode, the control method was improved: an hot air volume control system was added to control the moisture content in dried tobacco by varying the volume of input hot air.The two methods were comparatively experimented, the results showed that: 1) the moisture content and temperature of output cut tobacco by hot air volume control mode were stabler with narrower fluctuation ranges;2) the hot air volume control mode had less impact on characteristic size(de) of cut tobacco, but the de of the dried tobacco was more variable;3) the sensory quality of the dried tobacco showed little difference between the two, aroma style was of the same, while smoke style character differed slightly.
