Abstract

In order to investigate the changes of moisture content and surface temperature of cut tobacco during cylinder drying,a mathematical model for describing the surface temperature change of cut tobacco was established, further, the effects of cylinder wall's temperature on the surface temperature were studied, and the difference of surface temperature change characters between flue-cured and burley tobacco was analyzed. The results showed that: 1) the kinetic model basing on the balance equations of mass and heat transfer could reflect the dynamic change characters of cut tobacco's surface temperature during drying;2) with the rising of cylinder wall's temperature, the temperatures of flue-cured tobacco B2F and burley tobacco C3F raised more rapidly, and their surface temperature raised to higher levels;under the same drying conditions, the surface temperature of flue-cured tobacco changed faster than that of burley tobacco;3) along with the reduction of moisture content, the surface temperature went through three stages: quick rising, slow rising, and quick rising.
