Abstract

This paper proposes a low-voltage ride-through (LVRT) scheme for the permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) wind turbine system under grid voltage sags by exchanging of the control roles of the two converters and using the braking chopper (BC). The DC-link voltage is controlled at the machine-side converter (MSC) by applying the sliding mode control instead of the grid-side converter (GSC). The GSC regulates the grid active power for a maximum power point tracking (MPPT). The validity of this control algorithm has been verified by the simulation of the 2[MW]-PMSG wind turbine system.
