Abstract
A 36-year-old female patient checked into the stomatology service complaining about dental loss and face swelling. During extraoral examination, it was possible to notice a facial asymmetry caused by left hemiface swelling. After intraoral examination, volume increasing of the superior jaw on its left side at alveolar region involving vestibular and palatal areas without infectious aspect was noted. Multislice computed tomography images showed a hyperdense expansive image with trabecular aspect in the anteroposterior region of the left superior jaw involving the alveolar processes, maxillary sinus up to the orbit floor proximity. After incisional biopsy, the histopathologic examination indicated a central giant cells lesion. Because of the clinical findings, a laboratory test was requested to evaluate parathyroid hormone levels, which were abnormal, leading to brown tumor of hyperparathyroidism final diagnosis. For that reason, the patient was referred to an endocrinologist for clinical treatment.
