Abstract

Abstract Heavy metal removal was made in batch reactors (1,5 L) by the way of a biological solubilization process called bacterial leaching. Linear equations were established for the solubilization of Cu, Zn and Mn, according to relevant parameters: pH and oxido‐reduction potential (ORP). The relatively low importance of ORP in aerobic sludges compare to anaerobic sludges can be explain. Normal values of ORP in aerobic sludges are higher than all threshold values found for solubilization whereas it is the opposite for anaerobic sludges.
