Abstract
Flywheel Energy Storage System (FESS) in distributed power automation environment of microgrid is studied. Information and data modelling to modify original mechatronic FESS to distributed power automation environment of Microgrid, distributed control mechanism design for physical components of FESS, and intelligent decision and planning strategies for FESS charging and discharging procedure are considered. A comprehensive architecture concerning above three factors is constructed by jointly applying IEC 61850 and IEC 61499 mechanism. Different roles and iteraction of the three parts are analyzed and architecture implementation is investigated. The proposed architecture provides an effective approach to control FESS in distribution power automation environment.
