Abstract
Abstract This paper addresses the problem of chaos control in cardiac rhythm dynamics. For that purpose, the high-order control method is applied to a recently proposed model of the human cardiac rhythm. Considering the fact that a small parametric perturbation leads to the stabilization of a desired unstable periodic orbit (UPO), this means that pathological chaotic rhythms can be avoided by a judicious choice of externally accessible parameters. We note that our objective is to stabilize the original periodic orbit and not to create new orbits with different properties from the already existing orbits as often done in most chaos control methods. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the chaos control method in stabilizing cardiac rhythm dynamics. This can be very useful to avoid some pathology associated with cardiac rhythms.
