Abstract

In the ongoing global transition from non-renewable energy sources to renewables such as solar, wind, and tidal power, solar energy plays a predominant role. Take, for instance, the widespread use of solar-powered e-rickshaws. These vehicles require a consistent and lowharmonics DC supply to charge their batteries. However, during overcast days, the solar panels on the e-rickshaws may struggle to provide the necessary power for battery charging, leading to potential interruptions. One effective solution to address this challenge involves implementing a DC-DC converter to maintain a stable voltage supply to the load. Three types of DC converters have been designed and their input-output voltage relations are calculated and compared. All three converters are simulated using MATLAB with an open-loop control approach.
