Abstract
Based on the analysis of existing scientific approaches, the article examines the essence of the mechanisms of state management of physical culture and sports in Ukraine. In particular, the current scientific concepts to define the concept of "physical culture and sports" and "mechanism of public administration", "program-target management", "program-target management method", "program-target management principle", "program-target approach". As a specific type of life management is designed to be implemented through the implementation of consistent management actions, which are classified as "functions" of management. The article emphasizes the need to determine the essence of a relatively new specific mechanism of public administration, which arises as a result of the introduction of the process of decentralization of power in Ukraine. Based on the study, conclusions are drawn on the understanding of the essence of the mechanism of state management of physical culture and sports in Ukraine.
