Abstract
Development is very necessary for all human beings. Most of the people think that it means only technological and industrial development, but in reality it means to uplift the living standard of people. MNREGA is introduced to achieve the same purpose in rural areas through employment generation. The problem of unemployment is increasing day by day and this scheme is a kind of insurance against unemployment. This scheme helps in enhancement of rural natural resources, which are laying waste due to ignorance. It is assumed that MNREGA works to strengthen the democratic decentralisation and educational status of rural masses. Women are an important part of unskilled manual labour and they are living in deep isolation in Indian villages. In present times, demand is increasing to raise their living standard and their participation in work and decision making and MNREGA is playing a vital role to empower them. The purpose of this paper is to explore how Government is facing various challenges coming in the way of implementation of this scheme and the steps or actions need to be taken by Government to remove them.
