Abstract

English round is an effective approach to teaching medical English in standardized resident training and deserves more widely promotion in China. But in the specific implementation, it still faces many challenges such as residents' fear of participation, monotony of the teaching form and difficulty to maintain. Here, a two-step strategy from office round to bedside round is firstly introduced to reduce residents' psychological fear. Secondly, multiple forms are adopted to teach English including joint round, operating room round, duty shift, literature reading and academic speech enrich diversity of English round. Lastly, long-term implementation of English round will be achieved only after establishment of organization system including participant management, material preparation and instructor training.
