Abstract

The purpose of this study was to construct a Leave-No-Trace (LNT) promotion program, aimed at the low-impact hiking activity as well as to evaluate the effects for this program. After literature review, five experts were invited to provide their opinions and suggestions about the promotion program design. Then, the method of survey was used for 139 participants to pre-post test and follow-up test after two weeks to examine the effects of this LNT program with questionnaire of ”LNT principles knowledge” as well as the scale of ”environmental attitude”. According to the results, the LNT promotion program constructed by this research could bring out participants' improvement in ”LNT principles knowledge” as well as ”active behavior” for positive environmental attitude. Moreover, the effects of this program could last for two weeks. This study concluded that with integration of real experiential activities and seven LNT principles constructed for LNT promotion program, could promote LNT principles knowledge as well as environmental attitude. To sum up the present findings, this study opens a new strategy for future research and also acts as the reference for future hiking management and program promotions.
